What is a slider?
A slider is a web element usually placed on the homepage as an advertising panel. It generally contains information related to the rest of the website content and often includes links to other pages. The slider can be a fixed image or video over which animated elements are superimposed, such as phrases that form gradually, buttons, or smaller images that can create compositions. It can also consist of a slideshow with several compositions, each usually representing an area of the website.
Although it is a visually very attractive element and a well-established trend in current web design, some web designers do not approve of these elements because they slow down page loading. However, if we opted for simplicity in favor of web speed, design and interactivity would be very limited. We must weigh and prioritize: if we want an attractive web experience, the slider is fundamental, and additionally, during those microseconds of waiting, we can add value with interactive gifs that activate during that time.
How do we make sliders?
At Marabelia, we work with Revolution Slider, one of the best-selling WordPress plugins worldwide. It is currently estimated that Revolution Slider runs on 4 million websites.
The programming possibilities for this plugin are so many that it would be practically impossible to explain everything we can do. As a very brief summary, here are some options:
What is a simple slider?
A simple slider, like the one we offer on our basic websites, consists of a carousel of fixed images over which text is superimposed (which can enter and exit with animation) and to which a button can be added. Generally, the carousel is made up of 5 or 6 scenes.
What is a complex slider?
A complex slider is the one we create for our more advanced websites. Each scene is composed of different layers with animated elements (videos, images, texts, buttons, etc.) and these elements can generate various interactivities for the user. Additionally, these elements do not have to remain static: different animations can be generated within the same scene. The process of creating these sliders is very labor-intensive, requiring creativity, care, and a great deal of graphic design and programming work.
